Thoughts about textile art …

If you want a golden rule that will fit everything, this is it: Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. – William Morris
Decorative Art is the combination of craft and imagination.
As a painter begins with his paint brush in hand, so the needlework designer begins with her needle, using threads as if they were paints.
Textile patterns are a form of visual language – a universal language which forms part of every culture.
There is something magical about the sight of needlework – the sensuous texture of the threads – be it the shimmer of silks, the rough hewn of linen, the glisten of metallics.
A design should reveal itself over a period of time, like a puzzle to be solved.
The celebration of pattern on pattern makes the mind think about the patterns of one’s life – whether inherited family patterns, personal patterns to release, new patterns that bring about change.
